George Eastman

Madison Greiner
Photographer MP2 assigment
3rd Period

Throughout the reading The History of Photography I found George Eastman's blog particularly interesting. I must admit the tragic honesty rapped into his suicide note is what initially drew my attention. ("My work is done. Why wait?") the two Eastman photographs that I love the most, would be his skyscrape of a city, and the small vinitian boy. I really love the blunt expression on the boys face, and the fact that everything is in focus. Not to mention the boys eyes are so expressive. & the skycap is ghostly foggy in sepia tones without a single person anywhere. In 1880, at age 24 Eastman started a dry plate company in Rochester, New York. His photograph was the first half tone photograph to appear in a daily newspaper. (The New York Graphic) Eastman was also the sole creator of the Eastman Kodak Company. George Eastman was born July 12,1854 and was lost March 14th,1932.

-fun fact: his mom helped him come up with the word Kodak!
